Solemnity of St. Vincent Pallotti - 2021
The members of the Pallottine Family gathered in SS. Salvatore in Onda church, Rome, to celebrate the Triduum in honour of St. Vincent Pallotti and in preparation for the Feast. Each day of the Triduum was dedicated to reflect on a particular theme close to the heart of our Holy Founder, St. Vincent and our Holy Father, Pope Francis.
On 22 January 2021, the Solemnity of St. Vincent was celebrated to thank God for the gift of St Vincent Pallotti and for the many blessings the entire Pallottine Family has received through his powerful intercession. The theme of the day was: "The Pallottine Family in the Footsteps of St. Vincent Pallotti at the Service of Universal Fraternity." The prayer evening began with the Eucharistic adoration and mediation on short excerpts from the encyclical Fratelli tutti and from the writings of St. Vincent Pallotti, followed by the Vespers and the Benediction. The was followed by the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration.
The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam SAC, the Ecclesiastical Assistant of the Union and the Rector General of the Society. In his homily, he spoke about St. Francis of Assisi, a mystic, who believed in universal fraternity and whose concept of fraternity involved not only the human race but also God’s entire creation. Pope Francis expresses very clearly in his Encyclicals that, it is only by turning to the Gospel way, following a life of simplicity and poverty of the “poverello di Assisi”, can truly make us disciples of Jesus. He also spoke about the Roman saint and mystic, Vincent Pallotti, a prophetic figure who believed and promoted universal fraternity. A saint of the infinity, who remained in mystical union with God and his whole creation. Fr. Jacob, pointed out three ways, based on the readings of the day, to live and promote universal fraternity as members of the Pallottine Family: fraternal charity, life and apostolate animated by love and commitment to the missionary mandate.
At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration Ms. Donatella Acerbi, the President of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, gave a short message to those present and those who followed the Mass online. The liturgy for the day was animated by the Choir of the Pallottine Family.
