BEYOND THE CLOUDS... Fr. JACOB nAMPUDAKAM

Presenting the Gospel to the youth in a language that is understandable to them today remains a big challenge for the entire Church. To reach out to them, we need to be creative and innovative, without watering down the values of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church.
The book titled "Beyond the Clouds. Be holy. That is everything", authored by none other than Rector General of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, Fr. Jacob Nampudakam SAC, is a humble attempt to communicate, especially to the young people, the Gospel values and the many existential realities of human life, using the common experience of a journey in an airplane. The author asserts that we have a common origin and destiny. Within the plane, we breathe the same air, eat the same food, and sit close to each other, regardless of our nationalities, faiths, professions or color. Going beyond our trust in the perfection of the machine and the efficiency of the pilot, an existential faith in God means that we put our ultimate trust in the "Pilot of pilots". Letting go and abandoning ourselves to the Supreme Being, the Lord of the History and our Ultimate Destiny become an authentic experience of faith. The author makes use of his vast international experiences over the years also to challenge all of us to develop such a faith and give ourselves to the mission entrusted to each one of us. The care of God's creation, especially the children, the youth and the vulnerable persons spread all over the world, are the themes dear to his heart. The point of departure is always his vocation and mission as a Pallottine. The book is very reader friendly and is written in a very simple language. It provides plenty of materials for profound reflection on human life and our Christian vocation and mission, especially as envisaged by the Roman saint Vincent Pallotti.
