To all the Major Superiors, Missions Secretaries and
Members of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate

Dear confreres, greetings from Rome!

The month of October is missionary par excellence, because chosen by the Church in order to pray and express our Christian solidarity for the missions. Our Pallottine Community was included in this dynamic, choosing also, to celebrate the Pallottine Missions Sunday on the first Sunday of October. Such a celebration will hold this year on Sunday 2nd October 2016, during the course of our 21st General Assembly.

The theme chosen this year, as we celebrate the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, is as follows: “The Divine Mercy in Pallotti and its development in the Asian context: South Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam”. The Council of the General Secretariat for the Missions chose this theme, linked to this Jubilee year, to present the thought of our Holy Founder on Divine Mercy. The second reason for the choice of this theme is to see how our confreres, who work in the five East Asian countries where we are now present, actuate the thought of Pallotti, through the works of mercy and the spreading of the worship and devotion to divine mercy.

In sending you this material to celebrate the Pallottine Missions Sunday 2016 (text in different languages, Power Point and banner in Italian and English), we ask you to send it to your own confreres, using the mean of communication that you consider more appropriate. On that Sunday, we will celebrate the 27th Sunday in ordinary time year “C”, following the liturgical texts provided by the Church. However, please bear in mind that Sunday, during sermons and prayers, the theme of Divine Mercy in Pallotti and its implementation in our missions in the five East Asian countries, or in your own contexts. It is also requested to pray and ask the faithful to pray and to manifest their closeness and solidarity in favour of our pallottine missions around the world, particularly those assumed in East Asia.

May God, infinite mercy, bless and keep you all in his love, through the intercession of our Holy Founder and Father, St. Vincent Pallotti.

Fr. Jean Bertrand Etoundi, SAC
General Secretary for the Missions
